30 July-5 August 2011

Last P-day we spent the day in Amsterdam, moving 4 elders from one old apartment to a nice remodeled one. Here are Elders Mueller and Schulte, moving the big stuff. The Saldens, Evertons, and Beckstrands were the other senior couples working with us that day.

Our Monday office lunch was pretty good with a new chicken recipe, potatoes, fruit plate, and caramel popcorn. Everyone was happy; especially E. Benson who ate 3 plate-fulls!

Here was our Monday group, this week it included the Brubaker's sister, her husband, their daughter and her two kids. We still had enough food!

The Assistants took my camera and snapped a picture of themselves while I wasn't looking.

More of the beautiful flowers in Holland. These are some we saw on our morning walk around town.

Kind of a cool monument near our house with the flowers on either side.

Our town is getting ready for a huge flower festival and celebration next week. They are putting lights like this one up all over town along the streets and the canals. We're excited to see what it's like, but we can't park in front of our apartment for a whole week as we are right on the town square.

I love the way they display flowers here - like a huge flower tree, but it's really not. It's like a grill and the flowers grow and fill it in. This is across from our apartment in front of the old church.

You can see the date the church was built.

More pretty flowers on our walk.

Sister Brubaker and I drove up to the Apeldoorn area to check out a hotel we're going to use for a senior retreat in September. This was a cool little old farm house in the country we passed on our way.

I think this was a little tea house they have put in this old farm house we stopped at.

This was one of the B & B's we looked at - I loved this old wooden Wimbledon sign they had out in front.

Thursday and Friday of this week we put on lunches for a district leader council and then a zone leader council the next day. We did the same lunch twice - I made cakes both days where Sis Brubaker bought some yummy sandwiches and did the fruit and veggie trays. I loved how colorful it all looked.

After lunch the missionaries went out finding in our town. Here they are, gathered around a big map, getting their assigned areas. Later, Elder Kapischke, our area president, came and spoke to the zone leaders for 2 hours, which was a real treat.
